About The Project

RotoSpa has made a splash in thousands of homes across the UK and is the industry-leading hot tub chosen by hire agents, retailers, a network of dealers, holiday let owners and more than 300 UK holiday parks.




Challenges

The previous RotoSpa website had an outdated design as it had been designed and implemented nearly a decade ago. Additionally, the number of custom plugins on this site, which were written for branch management and salespeople, was very high and had significantly slowed down the website’s speed. Moreover, the code was not written cleanly. All of these plugins needed to be made compatible with newer versions of other plugins, themes, and also the WordPress core. The website design also needed to be updated.

Solutions

Initially, it was necessary to gather the previous and new requirements for the custom plugins again from the client. I conducted multiple sessions with the marketing team and ultimately completed the requirements list. In the next step, it was necessary to migrate the custom plugins to a clean WordPress version based on the obtained requirements. I did this by reviewing the previous codes and optimizing each of the custom plugins. As a result, I transferred the plugins to the clean WordPress version with multiple changes. The clean WordPress version was in staging.

Next, I designed the website’s style guide based on RotoSpa’s brand identity and then started designing an iterative design for a suitable and overall layout for the website. I redesigned all pages in Figma and implemented them with Elementor. The website was completely aligned with the client’s needs and brand identity, and as a result, the site was transferred from staging to the client’s main domain. The client was very satisfied that the website had gained high speed and also improved in SEO, and as a result, they gave me a very high rating on Upwork feedback.
